Glenis started her career in HM Customs & Excise, in the 1980’s, and worked as a Customs Officer in London Port for 10 years, dealing with a variety of commercial importations. She became a specialist in the Common Agricultural Policy, providing Customs Officers, all over the country, with procedural advice on how to handle and examine foodstuffs.
After moving from Customs into VAT in the 1990’s, Glenis worked in East London, where she gained a sound knowledge of construction, second hand motor dealers and retail.
Glenis moved to Devon in 2002 and, due to the redevelopment of the region, she now specialises in construction and land and property. She was also successful in winning a tribunal case, whilst working for HMRC, which involved a property development.
In more recent years Glenis and her husband set up their own brewery business, where she quickly got to grips with calculating beer duty and submitting Excise returns to HMRC, which was a real challenge!
Glenis joined FCTC in 2016 and, as a VAT consultant, she provides wide-ranging technical advice and assistance with HMRC interventions. In addition, she is happy to carry out VAT health visits at business premises.
